Tunning Hiking Trails in Phuket- Our Guide

Are you looking for a great hiking adventure with great views and stunning scenery? Your next trip might be to Phuket. Filled with beautiful landscape, impressive waterfalls, and jaw-dropping views of the crystal blue sea and vivid rainforests, Phuket is one place you cannot miss. Hiking trails are abundant in the jungle, providing you with pathways leading to hidden paradises of waterfall and beaches.

Here are five amazing trails in Phuket you cannot ignore:

Kathu Waterfall

If all you need is a beautiful waterfall promised at the end of the path to start your journey, then Kathu Waterfall is the perfect choice for you. With beautiful vegetation surrounding you while climbing your way up, it is an experience you will not forget. Just remember, be safe. Wear durable grip shoes as the trail may get slippery during rainy seasons. Forgot to bring some water with you? No worries. The trail has many shops selling drinking water. If you do want to visit the waterfall, do so during the rainy season. This season is where the waterfall is at its most glorious stage. If you do get hungry after the hike, stop by Pai Lin restaurant.

Khao Sok National Park

Khao Sok is the perfect place for nature lovers. Complete with a vast rainforest, crystal blue lake dotted with karsts, and a variety of wildlife, this national park has it all. Along the trails, you will discover little swimming spots, mysterious caves,  gorgeous waterfalls, groves of bamboo and oil palm trees. You may even hear or see gibbons swinging along. The rafflesia, the world’s largest flower, also grows there. The trail has many natural pools, so don’t forget to pack a swimsuit and cool off when you reach one. If you want to slow down and rest during the hike, set up camp during the evenings. The whole sky will shine with stars, proving to be a stunning view indeed. Floating houses by the Cheow Lan Lake are available as well. Tour guides are available also if you do not want to go exploring by yourself. To get to Khao Sok, you will need to spend at least a day traveling from Phuket. Because the park is enormous, it will take a few days for you to explore the entire area. During the cold seasons of December up to March is the best time to visit Khao Sok National Park.

The Big Buddha

The Big Buddha in Phuket is visible from many locations. The statue stands over its surroundings. Next to it is a miniature version, golden rather than white. To reach Big Buddha, start from Karon Beach while hiking through vine plantations and switch paths used by locals. From the trail, you can view the magnificent beach. The hike itself is relaxing and calm, and as cool winds blow across the area, the sound is disturbed by the occasional chimes of the bell. During sunset, the masses will come to view the buddha as it reflects the orange light emitted by the sun. The experience is truly awe-inspiring. Do note that if you go here, dress conservatively because the place is a religious site.

Bang Pae Waterfall

Looking for an easy trek? Bang Pae Waterfall promises a relaxing hike with a rewarding sight of the white waterfall. However, because it is part of a national park, there is an entrance fee. After the visit, head out for some food in the island’s favorite Bang Pae Seafood. On the way back, stop by the Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre to catch a glimpse of rescued gibbons.

Paradise Beach

With its unique greenish-blue water lined palm trees, this hidden place is perfect for relaxation. You can reach this place with a quick drive or take a 4km hike along the beach. Starting at Patong, make your way pass Tri Trang Resort and head for Emerald Bay; the beach will be at the end of the road. Don’t forget to dip down into its refreshing water.

Now that you know where to go for the best trails in Phuket, grab your friends and family and head out for an unforgettable trip. Explore this beautiful island and enjoy its stunning beauty.
